My life as a wife, mother, and nurse.

Oh, the life of a pioneer.....

Day 11, no power.

Candlelight cooking. Chef Boyardee is losing its charm. My poor husband is taking icicle showers every morning. Unable to study due to the severe lack of light, which was reflected in my performance on the test we just took Wednesday.

Yes we had a week off. But the entire week was spent just surviving. Every daylight moment was spent trying to get food, or ice, or gas, or batteries, trying to put our homes back in order. Then it is night, and even with every candle and lantern in the house lit, it is still dark. Studying is really difficult, if not impossible under these situations.

It looks like it will be another week before we get power back on. However, there are benefits to working in the Athletic Department of VEU (very expensive university):

1. lights and air conditioning during daylight hours.
2. hot food that does not come from a can
3. warm showers with awesome water pressure for the boychild and myself
4. ice to take home (the only thing keeping what little bit of food we have from going bad)

This week we went back to school. We now delve into the mysterious world of EKG strips. Pretty exciting stuff. And after cardio, we are done. At last. I am so looking forward to the end of this semester.

W. :)
